Overview
This project marked my transition from making objects to designing solutions. The IGCSE Design Technology project brought together everything I had learned over the previous years. From user research and concept development to CAD modelling, prototyping, fabrication, testing and evaluation, it was my first experience taking a product from an idea to a finished solution.

Designing
for the User
Earlier projects had taught me how to work with materials. This project taught me how to design for people. Every decision from the desk height and work surface to stability, storage, rounded edges and material choice and finish was guided by the needs of the person using it, not simply by what looked good.
Process
My design process was a blend of creativity, technical skills, and collaboration. Each stage was meticulously planned and executed to achieve the highest quality results.

The
Reflection
This project marked the point where woodworking became product design. I realised that successful products aren't defined by craftsmanship alone, but by how well they solve a real problem.
Research, iteration and user feedback became just as important as the final build, reinforcing that the best designs are shaped around people, not simply materials.
"Design isn't about building what I imagine. It's about understanding what someone truly needs."
