WOODWORKING

Some of my earliest memories of woodworking are at a family friend's sawmill, the smell of sawdust, the sound of the saw, piles of timber waiting to become something. That environment stuck with me. What began as collecting wood for bonfires slowly turned into a fascination with the material itself, its grain, its texture, what it could be shaped into. I taught myself from YouTube videos, then took what I'd learned into workshops in Bangalore and Goa to go further.

I kept returning to the sawmill, kept making small things and somewhere in that repetition, "a hobby" quietly became "a craft."

Overview

Woodworking became the foundation of how I think. Beyond learning craftsmanship, it taught me to observe carefully, experiment with ideas and improve them through iteration. From simple practice pieces to furniture and user-centred design, every project shaped the way I approach products, systems and real-world problems today.

How

Woodworking Shaped My Thinking

"Woodworking is a way for me to think with my hands. It is grounding, calming and incredibly empowering."

Lessons

Beyond The Workshop

I learned to observe.

Most people saw firewood; I saw grain, knots and possibility. Good ideas start with careful observation.

Every conversation with pet owners shaped the product. Listening helped me improve every recipe.

I learned to experiment

No project worked perfectly the first time. Every mistake taught me to adjust, rethink and try again.

No dedicated workshop, just a bedroom, a living room and plenty of tools. I built with what I had.

Every order supported more than a customer. It helped feed and care for street dogs in my community.

Woodworking gradually became more than a craft. Every project challenged me to observe more carefully, think ahead and solve problems with greater intention. Looking back, I realise the biggest lessons weren't about using tools, they were about building a better way of thinking.
